The beautiful "Lagoon" Nebula.

According to Wikipedia, the Lagoon Nebula is in the constellation Sagittarius, located 4,100 light years from earth.
It's one of just two star-forming nebulae visible to the naked eye from the mid-northern latitudes.
The Lagoon Nebula measures 90' by 40' on the sky which, at its calculated distance of 4,100 light years, translates to an actual dimension of 110 by 50 light years.
It was discovered in 1747.
