Police lineup.

The Police kicked off their tour last night in Vancouver, BC.
This was the setlist. With my commentary, of course. :)

1) Message in a Bottle - I probably wouldn't have opened with this one. I would have gone for a song that just screams "The Police." The opening chords of "Synchronicity I" would have brought the house down.

2) Synchronicity II - I like this one, but I am sad they didn't do the less well-known "Synchronicity I."

3) Don’t Stand So Close to Me

4) Voices Inside My Head - I LOVE this song and I'm thrilled they are playing it.

5) When the World Is Running Down - Another great tune.

6) Spirits in the Material World - This was my fave as a kid. I still really like it.

7) Driven to Tears - Great lyrics, great song.

8) Walking on the Moon - A fun one to lighten the mood after #7.

9) Truth Hits Everybody - Another fave.

10) Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - Swell love song.

11) Wrapped Around Your Finger - Crowd-pleaser. Throwin' the casual fans a bone.

12) The Bed’s Too Big Without You - Good tune, underplayed.

13) Murder by Numbers - Eh.

14) De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da - Fun singalong.

15) Invisible Sun - Slowin' it down a bit.

16) Walking in Your Footsteps - Slow and poignant.

17) Can’t Stand Losing You - "I guess you'd call it suicide, but I'm too full to swallow my pride." In my top three favorite Police songs. I LOVE this song and sing along REALLY loudly in my car when it's on my iPod.

18) Roxanne - I can't hear this without thinking of Eddie Murphy in jail.

19) King of Pain - Another bone to the casual fans.

20) So Lonely - Possibly my favorite hard-rock Police song. Fun to scream along to. Nobody puts angst to music like the Police.

21) Every Breath You Take - Serious bone to the casual fan. Not a love song in any way, shape, or form, but this doesn't stop people from using it as their first dance song at their wedding.

22) Next to You - Mmmmm, me too, Sting. Me too.

I LOVE that they ended with an oldie. I also very much appreciate them dusting off some tunes that were never released as singles.
I guess they know that the people who have been DYING to see them for 20 years really want to hear the Police, not the FM radio.
I can't wait to see them at Wrigley.
